I am Ms. Frye. I have taught middle school science for 13 years.
I came to work at Richards Middle School in 2007.
I have taught accelerated life science to gifted learners and honor students for the past four years and really enjoy doing so.
I have three children: Taylor, Karla, and Michael.
I adore animals. We have several classroom pets and I have cats living at my house. I have owned or grew up with: cats, dogs, rabbits, parrots, guinea pigs, a hamster, a mouse, parakeets, a tree frog, praying mantises, chickens, a duck, a chinchilla, turtles, and a lizard. I have never had a snake or a pet spider. I have had several cool animal encounters over the past years. I have played with Bengal tiger cubs and White tiger cubs. I have fed monkeys, dolphins, sea lions, sting rays, giraffes, elephants, and even Xi Lan, one of the pandas at the zoo. I have swam with dolphins, stingrays, and sea turtles. I have even ridden a camel. I have petted lizards, snakes, alligators, and even a penguin. I have not, however held a baby gorilla which would be the most amazing encounter to me.
I began volunteering at Zoo Atlanta http://www.zooatlanta.org in the spring and love being around all the animals and learning new things every time I go. I have had the chance to greet people and pass out maps. I enjoy working in the commissary where I measure, weigh and package the greens, fruits, and vegetables for the orangutans and the gorillas. I am also part of the team of volunteers that put together enrichment activities for the animals.
I love taking my students on field trips. That is why we started the science club so we could go to great places like Jekyll Island. We, as a 7th grade, will go to Zoo Atlanta in October.
I have taken several great vacations to places like: the Bahamas, Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, Hawaii, New York, and of course Florida. This past Thanksgiving Break I went to Sea World, Discovery Cove, Lowery Park, Animal Kingdom and Epcot.
