The RMS 7th grade science club is running a recycling campaign in association with Zoo Atlanta and Eco-cell.
We are gathering old cell phones. Many electronics, contain the mineral Coltan which is mined in the Congo. The methods used destroy the habitat of gorillas, increasing their struggle for survival. The Coltan can removed from cell phones and reused, decreasing the need for more mining.
Attached is a flyer that gives more information. I am also adding so links to provide additional insights.
Please send in any and all old cell phones. We will send the phones to Zoo Atlanta.
